Calm starts with understanding

Hi, we’re Louise, Simon Misiewicz, and Calm Buddies, and we started with our dog, Dulce.

Dulce is the heart of our home. He is loving, loyal and full of personality, but he is also a wonderfully sensitive soul. Despite plenty of training, care and reassurance, he has always been a nervous dog. He can be skittish, jumpy and unsettled by sudden noises, especially loud bangs, fireworks and storms.

Watching a dog you love shake, hide or panic is heartbreaking. Any owner of a nervous dog will know that helpless feeling of wanting to make everything better, but not knowing where to start.

Why we created Calm Buddies

When Dulce struggled with loud noises, we wanted to help him in a kind, practical and non-pharmaceutical way wherever possible.

For us, the first step was not simply to cover up the problem. We wanted to help Dulce feel safer, more supported and more comfortable in the moments that frightened him.

So we started looking for calming products.

What we found was surprising.

There were plenty of individual products available: lick mats, wraps, beds, treats, audio tracks, toys and comfort items. But very few brands explained how to use these products together as part of a proper calming routine.

We did not just want another product.

We wanted a plan.

The problem we found

The more we searched, the more we noticed three clear gaps.

That missing guidance became the starting point for Calm Buddies.

We built Calm Buddies to be the brand we wished existed when we were sitting with Dulce during fireworks, trying to comfort him and wondering what else we could do.

We wanted something warmer than a product page.
